POLICE armed response officers were called to a residential area of Barnstaple this morning (Monday) after reports of a man being seen with a gun.

Ten officers went to a property in Sunflower Road following reports from a member of the public that a man had been seen entering with what looked to be a firearm.

Officers were at the scene for more than two hours and spoke with the owner of the property. But it proved to be a false alarm, with no firearm being found.
