Armed Forces Day celebration moves from Bideford to Barnstaple for free exhibition this June.

The annual North Devon Armed Forces Exhibition has found a new home in Barnstaple this year.

It will run from Thursday, June 25–27, with Saturday’s events open to the public and activities on the Thursday and Friday for local schools.

This annual event is proving more and more popular each year, and has moved from Bideford to a new venue at Pilton Community College to continue growing.

The free event, led by North Devon Veterans Association and organised in partnership with a range of other organisations, charts military history through displays of equipment and memorabilia and demonstrations.

Forces veterans are also on hand to answer visitors’ questions.

Up to 2,000 pupils are expected over the two days, with free admission for everyone from 10am on the Saturday.

Town mayor Cllr Val Elkins said: “I am delighted that this prestigious educational and community event has found a new home in Barnstaple. I hope that this is the beginning of a lasting addition to Barnstaple’s already strong links with the armed forces.”
