A COMMUNITY trust has been set up with the aim of developing affordable housing for local people in Appledore and for those who have had to leave the village, but would like to return.The Appledore Community Land Trust has been created as part of the Government's initiative to empower and involve communities in local housing projects, It is made up of five trustees - Torridge councillors Andrew Eastman and Sam Robinson and local men Peter Reveley, Keith Clements and Peter Withecombe.But before any housing projects can begin, Torridge District Council and the Community Council of Devon are running a Housing Needs Survey and holding a seminar in the village.
