Appledore lifeboat rescues Welsh cruiser

THE Appledore lifeboat and the Oldenburg came to the rescue of a Welsh pleasure cruiser on Tuesday after it began taking on water off Lundy Island.

The RNLI reported the 32 foot motor cruiser with four people on board had struck a submerged object and the volunteer Appledore crew immediately headed out aboard the all weather lifeboat Mollie Hunt to assist.

When they arrived they found the boat lying off the island and receiving assistance from the Lundy passenger ship Oldenburg.

An RNLI crew member was transferred to the vessel with a pump and then the lifeboat began to tow the boat and its four crew, on a pleasure cruise from Wales, back to Appledore.
