Local band is high achiever at South West Brass Band Association competition

APPLEDORE Band hit the right notes at an annual brass band contest held at Exmouth Pavilions on Saturday.

The North Devonians, conducted by Jim Wortley, won the cup for the best ungraded band in the competition run by the South West Brass Band Association.

The band was also delighted to achieve seventh place overall out of 12 bands taking part.

“This was a brilliant result for the band and the highest placing we have obtained in this competition over the years,” said band spokesperson Maureen Croker.

“The contest attracts bands of all grades from all over the South West region.”
