Open evening at Appledore Fire Station on Thursday, December 3.

Appledore Fire Station is hosting an open evening for prospective on-call firefighters on Thursday (December 3), at 7pm.

No previous experience of firefighting is necessary – the ideal prospective firefighter starts with a commitment to the community, a positive attitude and a good level of fitness.

It’s an opportunity for men and women who live and/or work within a five-minute response time to the fire station in Myrtle Street, where the open evening takes place, to potentially save lives.

People who can give cover during the day are particularly needed.

You need to be over 18 and have a good level of fitness and strength, but sometimes people overestimate the levels required and this can deter them.
