The woman was walking home from Birdman when she was approached by two women, verbally abused and pushed to the ground.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a disabled woman was assaulted in Wilder Road, Ilfracombe.

The woman, in her early 20s, was walking home from the Birdman event with the aid of a stick between 11.20pm and 11.30pm.

She had walked past the Admiral Collingwood pub and in the direction of Jubilee Gardens when she was approached by two young women.

They allegedly verbally abused her about her disability, before pushing her to the ground and throwing her stick into the road.

The victim was not seriously injured but sustained bruising to her face and arm, and she was very shocked and upset following the incident.

There is no description of the suspects other than one of them was believed to be wearing a long white top.
