Man was attacked in Torrington by two men who then tried to take his dog, said police.

Police are appealing for witnesses after an attempted dog theft in Torrington.

between 6.30pm and 7pm on May 29, the owner of the Staffordshire dog was approached and attacked by two men.

They then tried to steal his dog but he managed to escape with injuries to his hand.

The incident took place near the river at a place know to locals as: “Under Road and Lady Wash - Lady Wash being the lane leading up to New Road where the victim ran with his dog following the incident,” said police.

One man is described as 5”6 tall, of stocky build wearing a red zip-up hoodie with the hood up, a yellow t-shirt, blue jeans and aged between 35-40 years old and had a black beard.

The second man is described as 5”10 tall, skinny build with dark short hair in his 30s wearing a black tracksuit and black Nike Air Max trainers.

Police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed this incident or has any information relating to the two men.
