A scheme to redevelop Anchorwood Bank in Barnstaple has been granted outline planning permission by North Devon District Council.The decision also gives the go-ahead for current occupiers, door-making firm Leaderflush Shapland, to move to a new site at Roundswell.The riverfront site could be re-used for up to 450 new homes, pubs, restaurants and shops. The proposal - one of the largest applications to be submitted in North Devon during the last 20 years - also contains details for a possible hotel, riverfront promenade, public square, open spaces and new community facility.
