All systems go for Verity party

Party on the Pier in Ilfracombe tonight from 6-8pm.

THERE is an hour to go before the big Party on the Pier at Ilfracombe to celebrate the big switch on of Verity’s lights.

The free community party starts at 6pm, with the light switch on itself expected to take place just before 7, carried out by those who supported efforts to ensure Damien Hirst’s 67 foot statue won its place on the pier.

These include local singer and performer Charmain Lovett. The switch on will be followed by a firework display.

The Heart FM Roadshow will on hand, as will a mobile disco, bouncy castle, children’s rides and a larger ride for older revellers will be provided by Rowland’s.

The event has been organised by a group of councillors, officers, businesses and residents put together by the Ilfracombe Marketing Group.
