Air quality observation unit to be installed in Barnstaple

Station monitoring air quality will be the first of its kind in North Devon

A PLAN for an air quality monitoring cabin on Eastern Avenue, Barnstaple, has been approved by North Devon Council.

The cabin will be built by Bureau Veritas and will be surrounded by a dark-green fence to reduce its visual impact.

It will be one of many stations that are in operation across the United Kingdom, with nearby units in Saltash, Plymouth, Yarner Wood and Exeter.

It will provide hourly information on the quality of Barnstaple’s air and the results will published to the public via the website uk-air.defra.gov.uk
