Afghanistan deployment for North Devon troops

Chivenor servicemen and women called on as part of large-scale mobilisation

NORTH Devon servicemen and women will be heading to Afghanistan in the spring, the Ministry of Defence has announced.

Royal Marines from Chivenor’s Commando Logistic Regiment and Army personnel from 24 Commando Engineer Regiment will be heading to Helmand Province as part of the largest mobilisation of troops from the South West since 2008.

Defence Secretary Liam Fox said 3 Commando Brigade – comprising Royal Marine, Army, Royal Navy and the Territorial Army personnel from all over Devon and Cornwall – would lead the next deployment of British troops.
