THE 2008 Ruby Lecture on Tuesday (November 25) promises to be a dynamic and stimulating evening, as Professor Les Firbank addresses the question: Sustainability of Ruby Country in a changing world - how can we tell when we've got there?Prof Firbank looks at the way forward for Ruby Country in an uncertain future and asks how to adapt to the challenges.Following the success of the 2007 Ruby Lecture, given by Prof Michael Winter, the venue has moved to the larger capacity parish hall in Bratton Clovelly. With refreshments on offer, free entry and presentation of the Ruby Business Award, a large audience is expected. The event starts at 7pm.Prof Firbank, director of Wyke Research at Okehampton, said: "The Ruby Country Initiative is a great example of a project looking at ways to achieve a sustainable rural community.
