Arboriculture student Aaron Adams from Yarnscombe, near Barnstaple, has won the Royal Forestry Society's Top Practical Student of the Year award at Bicton College.

Aaron, 25, who studied for the National Certificate in Arboriculture at the College in East Devon, was presented with a cheque, certificate and one year's membership of the RFS by the South Western Division chairman Nick Davey.

Mr. Davey said:" Arboriculture and forestry are a life long learning curve and these qualifications will stand Aaron in good stead throughout his career. His enthusiasm is a wonderful example to everyone. We wish him well in the future."

Arboriculture course tutor Ant MacKarel, added: "Aaron has shown dedication and motivation throughout the course, always first to pitch in on any task. His practical skills and written work are always executed to a high standard and he clearly takes pride in all that he does. He is also a popular and likeable man who is both polite and respectful to those around him - quite frankly he has been great to work with and I for one hope we have more like him in the future.
