A woman had to be cut from the overturned car by fire fighters and was taken to hospital this morning (Wednesday).

The A377 is currently closed in both directions afer a single vehicle collision this morning (Wednesday).

Fire fighters, police and ambulance services were called to Langham Bridge after reports of an overturned car at around 5.20am on a 'blind bend'.

Crews from Barnstaple and South Molton arrived at the scene to find a car on its side and the female driver still in the Toyota 4x4.

They managed to remove her from the car using hydraulic cutting equipment, and she was taken to North Devon District Hospital by ambulance.

A police spokesman said the woman, from Chulmleigh, did not have life-threatening or life-changing injuries.

The road is still closed in both ways between Chapelton and Fishleigh Barton and Highways are understood to be at the scene.
