SIR - Can the community think of any way in which the beautiful gardens at Grenville Prep School can be preserved for the future and become a public park?Grenville has looked after them for many years and they are not so overgrown that they could not be restored to their original 19th century glory. There are walled terraces, rose arbours, lakes, a wonderful display of spring bulbs and beautiful old trees. To see it all go under the bulldozer would be a tragic loss to the community. It is located next to Clovelly Road Industrial Estate, Moreton Park and Londonderry and would provide a marvellous park for the area.Perhaps a Section 106 clause on any planning application, requiring an area to be preserved as a public facility?Could it be given to the town perhaps in exchange for planning approval elsewhere?Could a fund be set up to purchase it?A.Barnes,Westward Ho!
