AS campaigners continue to raise the �280,000 needed to make essential repair works to Barnstaple's iconic Trinity Church, a team making preparations to enable the work to begin reached their own milestone this week.

Scaffolders from Westcountry Scaffolding have finished erecting what is thought to be one of the highest scaffold structures raised in North Devon for the last 20 years.

On Thursday, Ian Gaddes, who has led the team in charge of assembling the 40-odd-tonne of scaffolding around the tower, invited the Gazette's Andy Keeble to climb to the top and take in a bird's eye view of Barnstaple that few have ever seen for themselves.
