Witnesses and brown satchel sought after Ashleigh Road theft

Thieves have taken £6,000 in cash following a burglary at Ashleigh Road in Barnstaple.

It happened between 5am and 11am on Sunday (September 11) and a laptop, luggage cases and a packet of cigarettes were also stolen.

Police believe the offenders gained entry through the French windows at the back of the house.

PC Lucy Robinson said: “We are particularly interested to hear if anyone should find a large brown leather satchel style bag with buckles.

“We advise anyone who finds the bag not to touch the contents and to contact police right away.

“We would also like to advise the public to ensure their premises are kept secure, especially as the nights begin to draw in.”
