Molton find a lifeline

A Mark Drayton penalty two minutes from time earned South Molton a crucial 13-10 victory over relegation rivals New Cross.

Ten minutes earlier the hosts had been trailing 10-5 and staring relegation in the face, but instead they finished the game ahead of New Cross and out of the drop spots.

Skipper Courtney Lucas had set the home side on the way with the opening try of the game, but the visitors hit back to lead 10-5.

Dan Smith was on the mark to bring the scores level with 12 minutes to go and with two minutes on the clock New Cross were penalised and Drayton handled the pressure to send his kick sailing through the posts.

To stay up, Molton have to win at North Tawton in two weeks time and hope New Cross slip up against Plymstock this Saturday and Tamar Saracens seven days later.
