MISFITS are putting on the pressure for second spot in Division 1 of the North Devon Table Tennis League.

After beating current runners-up Smugglers 7-3 they are now just one point behind them. Kevin Nicholls played his first league game for Misfits and won all three.

Leaders Torrington A gave Nathan Sussex his Division 1 debut against Castle Knights and he won two of his matches, with regulars Ben Taylor and Michael Sussex forcing home a 7-3 win to maintain a 30-point lead at the top.

Herons have secured the Division 2 championship, with Robin Gale remaining unbeaten. Dolphins played well against the leaders, Alan Pemberton winning two games, and they only finally lost the match in the doubles.

Biggest win of the week was recorded by Holsworthy B against Hopefuls as Len Weston scored a trio of wins and Derrick Bond two to almost certainly secure the runners-up spot.
