Megan’s concert boosts chemo appeal

BIDEFORD music student Megan Kerby was joined by other local singers and musicians in a charity show at Kingsley School in Bideford in aid of the North Devon Chemotherapy Appeal.

There were 26 performances of vocal and instrumental solos and duets and a charity auction, resulting in 700 being raised.

Auction prizes were donated by local and national companies, including two West End tickets from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s company The Really Useful Group and tickets to Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire.

Megan, 17, has been classically trained since the age of seven and was a trophy winner at the North Devon Performing Arts Festival.

She said the reason behind organising the concert was that her father had suffered with cancer and had used the current ‘dated’ chemotherapy unit.

She hoped the fund raising would help make an unpleasant experience of having to have chemotherapy a bit more comfortable for future cancer patients.
