Mad hatters take tea at Barnstaple DIY store
Tea party fund-raiser in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust
WORKERS at a Barnstaple DIY store took a tea break with a difference to raise money for a young people’s cancer charity.
Staff at Homebase wore their best head gear for a Mad Hatter’s tea party, part of a hat-trick of fund-raising stunts for Teenage Cancer Care Trust, the store’s chosen charity for the year.
Other events on Friday and Saturday included a sponsored “coffee quit†and a colleague bake-off.
Proceeds raised will support young people with cancer across the UK and Republic of Ireland. The money will help Teenage Cancer Trust fund, build and maintain specialist units within hospitals that are designed to feel like a home-from-home and give young cancer patients the very best chance of a positive outcome.
Nationwide, Homebase and Argos stores have already raised 2 million for the charity.
