Ilfracombe is once again gearing up for a bigger, better, brighter Christmas with a bumper weekend of festive fun.
This year's Lighting of the Lights takes place from on Friday, November 23 at Ilfracombe's war memorial and surrounding area.
You can expect the fun to start from 6pm and will include a community sing along, the arrival of Santa on his sleigh, the ever expanding community lantern parade as well as an appearance from the cast of The Sound of Music, who will be sure to entertain the audience with songs from the upcoming production to be held at the Landmark Theatre.
The evening continues after the big switch on with late night shopping throughout the High Street where shoppers can visit the towns fantastic independent shops and the wide array of street vendors and entertainers.
It's the third year the Christmas celebrations have been orchestrated by voluntary group, Combe Christmas, and this year's switch-on will feature a further £5,000 of lights to add to the festive illuminations.
Once again all of the electrical and installation work has been carried out for free by a group of generous local electricians and tradesmen who have donated their skills to the cause.
The weekend sees the Combe Christmas Market taking place at Ropery Road Car Park, with a marquee double the size of last year's as the popularity of the event increases.
Over the weekend there is plenty to see and do including a large number of vendors, children's entertainment, a free Santa's Grotto, live music, a community carol concert plus a new addition for this year, the switch on of the new lights in and around St James Place which takes place on the Sunday evening.
