With Christmas now just one month away, people in North Devon are being asked to think twice about the items they buy, in an effort to cut down on excess waste.

Cardboard boxes are likely to top the Christmas list of items put out for recycling, and North Devon Council is reminding residents to flatten all card to ensure it fits into the brown bags provided.

Residents are being reminded that as well as plastic bottles, they can also now put out plastic food trays, tubs and pots.

A full list of items that can be recycled at the kerbside can be found on the council website www.northdevon.gov.uk/recycling
