Life-saving defibrillator unit installed for residents and community

A life-saving defibrillator has been installed to an over-55s’ independent living housing scheme.

The unit is housed within North Devon Homes’ Sellick Court in South Molton, thanks to funding by Liberty Gas and provides reassurance to both residents and members of the wider community who can access it in the case of an emergency.

John Evans, planned improvements manager, said: “Although we hope it never has to be used, we are grateful to Liberty Gas for this life-saving equipment.

“The installation of this unit helps to strengthen defibrillation availability for our customers and the community of South Molton and the surrounding areas.

“We have defibrillators at a number of our sites across North Devon which can be accessed by our customers and the wider community by dialling 999 in an emergency.”

North Devon Homes work with their contractor Liberty Gas to carry out annual gas safety checks on all customers’ homes where gas appliances are present.

The addition of a defibrillator at Sellick Court is the latest installation by North Devon Homes to support our customers and the wider community. Other sites where a defibrillator is installed includes Medard House in Barnstaple.
