Derby ends in stalemate

WOOLACOMBE & Mortehoe came from behind twice to draw 2-2 with rivals Ilfracombe Town Thirds in the Intermediate Division on Saturday.

Damon Reed put the visitors ahead at the Meadow but the hosts pulled themselves back into the game before the break.

James O’Leary restored the advantage for the Bluebirds but Woolacombe had a final sting in the tail and slotted home a second equaliser with three minutes left to play.

In other results, Northam Lions Reserves beat Braunton Thirds 3-1 and Putford Reserves beat Landkey Town 5-2.

In Intermediate Two, Fremington maintained their charge at the top with an 8-1 win at bottom club Chittlehampton Reserves, while unbeaten title challengers Northside Atlantic smashed nine past Hartland Reserves without reply.

Vinny Bott scored a first half hat-trick, Carl Armstrong bagged two and their was even time for a Neil Armstrong penalty and a Kieran Hodge top corner screamer before the half-time break.

“Hartland pushed us back for long periods in the second half, but we hit two goals on the break, one each from Neil and Carl, who completed his hat-trick,” said club spokesperson Jon Stanton.

In other results, Barnstaple FC drew 4-4 with Northam Lions Thirds, Torridgeside Reserves beat Braunton Fourths 1-0 and Bradworthy Reserves were awarded an away walkover against South Molton Reserves.
