Kingsley in nationals again

KINGSLEY School’s under-13 mixed gymnastics team has won the South West Schools’ floor and vault championship.

The school has won this event at national level twice previously and they now have the opportunity to again represent the South West at the national finals. Jasmine Boyd returned from injury to perform well on the floor and take the second highest score, only beaten by Kingsley’s Sophie Johns. Harrison East vaulted well, scoring another nine and securing the team’s victory.

The Under 19s just missed out on their place at the nationals, losing out to last year’s national champions Ivybridge.

Kat Parkyn and Lauren East once again led the team with the top scores on the floor and vault respectively.

U13 mixed: Gold – Joe Taylor-Richards, Louis Beaumont, Harrison East, Sophie Johns, Jasmine Boyd and Daisy Scott

U19 girls: Silver – Kat Parkyn, Anna Charles, Lauren East, Lauren Parsons, Kate Edwards and Millie Taylor Richards.

This weekend more than 400 local gymnasts, aged from four to 18 years, will be representing 35 schools at the North Devon Schools’ Gymnastics Championships at Kingsley School.
