Kingsley gymnasts strike county gold

KINGSLEY School gymnasts dominated the Devon Schools’ Gymnastics competition, winning many individual medals and four out of the six team categories, including first and second in the ‘blue ribbon’ U19 girls event.

West Buckland School entered for the first time and performed well to place fourth.

Lauren East wowed the judges with her vault, scoring 9.8, and took the U19 individual title, closely followed by Kate Edwards, Kat Parkyn, Lauren Parsons (Kingsley) and Gracey Woolway (West Buckland).

Sophie Johns won the U13 title in style, with Joe Taylor-Richards and Harrison East hot on her heels.

In the junior event Leah Brent from Appledore School was outstanding and easily won the U9 age group, with Kingsley’s Oliver Stacey and Tyler Cooper achieving the silver and bronze.

Sarah Beams vaulted well in the U11s and won the gold medal, with Daisy Burnell taking the bronze.
