TEENAGER Jess Bradley broke the course record and collected a host of prizes during the Devon Ladies' Golf Championship at Teignmouth.

The 17-year-old from Bishops Nympton, a member at both Saunton and Tiverton, shot a one-under gross 72 in the second qualifying round to break the ladies' record.

A birdie on the 17th and an eagle on the 220-yard par-4 18th saw her qualify in first place with a total of 150.

Jess, the Devon girls' captain, claimed the gold medal after finishing three shots clear of Stover's Jo Hicks-Beach. She also won the under-18 scratch trophy and came second in the handicap competition.

She started the matchplay stages by thrashing Exeter's Ann Norman 8 and 7, then beat Stover's Nikki Kedge 4 and 2, but went out in the semi-finals after a 2 and 1 defeat to Leah Roelich of Teignmouth.

A former South Molton Community College pupil, she now studies at Petroc in Tiverton.

Jess is the reigning South West girls' champion and also holds the South West ladies' foursomes title.
