Young star forced to pull out of the England Under 19s trip
NORTH Devon’s Jamie Overton has been forced to pull out of the England Under 19s trip to Bangladesh due to a freak accident.
Overton ran into a post during a fielding drill while working with the squad at Loughborough University in preparation for the tour, which starts next week.
Overton was knocked out for several minutes and spent seven hours in hospital undergoing tests.
Scans and tests revealed that Overton had suffering a bad concussion.
Fortunately, nothing was broken and in a few weeks he will be able to return to training.
Jamie and twin Craig were due to go on the three-week tour together. Jamie played for England U19s against South Africa last summer, but Craig has had to wait until now for his call up.
The Overtons – who are 18 in April - have been picked a year early for the U19s so should get the chance to play together in a future series.
The twins came up through the youth system at North Devon CC and have played together for Devon since U10 level.
Both have played for Devon at Minor Counties level and were attached to the Somerset Academy in 2011.
