Impressive opener by Penfold
BIDEFORD boxer Ray Penfold showed Paignton fans why he is a hopeful to win the NACYP national youth title this year, with his display in the first round of the championships there.
He came up against strong Plymouth Mayflower boxer C Holdun, but
worked well behind his trademark fast jab to ease the first round. Growing in confidence, he gave a superb second round display and went into the third with a massive lead.
He then had the Plymouth boxer bouncing from rope to rope on the end of some fast combinations to run out an impressive victor.
There was also a good from Bideford debutant Alfie King, who gave his all in a cracking contest with Toby Durrant of Paignton ABC and just came up short, losing by four points to his more experienced opponent.
