Promotion-chasing Bluebirds hit eight to keep the pressure on at the top

ILFRACOMBE Town Thirds scored eight goals in a week to keep the pressure on at the top of the Intermediate One table.

Town beat Putford Reserves 5-0 on Wednesday night thanks to a brace by Carl Power and singles by John Woodcock, Joe Alcock and Colin Woodcock.

On Saturday, John Woodcock was on target again as the Bluebirds beat Woolsery Reserves 3-0. Damon Reed and Daniel Wright were also among the goals.

Clovelly came from behind to beat Northam Lions Reserves 3-1. The Lions took an early lead and dominated the first 20 minutes but the Black and Whites responded with some firepower of their own and ended the half 2-1 up thanks to goals by Rob Kearney and Martyn Stanbury.

A second Kearney header just after the break took the wind out of the Lion’s sails and saw Clovelly home.

At Rock Park, Phil Norman scored twice as Equalizers played out a 4-4 draw with AFC Anchor. Darren Floyde and Will Hodge also netted for the hosts, who were unfortunate not to take all three points when a last minute effort was adjudged not to have crossed the line.
