Ilfracombe cinema price drop for movie fans

THE Embassy Cinema in Ilfracombe is offering a treat for movie fans with the chance to see all the latest film releases at some of the lowest priced cinema tickets in the UK.

From this Friday, tickets for all will be 2.99 from Sunday to Thursday and 3.99 Friday and Saturday. The cinema will also continue to offer its popular Weekend Bargain Shows of recent family films, when a 2.99 ticket includes a popcorn and drink.

The cinema was bought and fully refurbished by Penzance based Merlin Cinemas in 2006 to provide a modern three screen cinema with a bar.

It is always busy during the summer but out of season fails to attract sufficient numbers of people to justify staying open all year.

So to appeal to the North Devon film fan, Merlin – which owns nine cinemas in Devon and Cornwall – is hoping a significant reduction in ticket prices will bring in more of the local audience and more often.

“With so many great films currently on release, reducing prices so significantly will make it much more affordable for local,” said manager David Walker.

“I believe it’s still the very best value entertainment locally and I hope that many people who have not been recently will now come along and rediscover the great pleasure of a visit to the cinema.”

A similar change of cinema ticket prices in a south coast resort has resulted in a three fold increase in admissions over the last year and Merlin is hoping this will also be the case in Ilfracombe.
