Webbers of Bideford has made its own move – to a new office a little further along Mill Street.

The spacious new premises at 43-44 Mill Street have been fully refurbished to offer far more space for staff and an even better service for customers.

The agent has been in the building for about five weeks, but the premises were officially opened on Friday by Bideford mayor Doug Bushby, joined by Webbers managing director Malcolm Prescott.

Local director Richard Douglas said the company had been in the town since 1966, much of it in the old Mill Street office, and they did not want to move far.

He said: “I am still 100 per cent convinced that Mill Street has the best footfall in the area and we wanted to stay there.

“We have been looking for a bigger frontage premises for quite a few years now. This has given us a lot more width and so a much nicer office to work in – and so much space.

“When you don’t have enough desks and chairs for people it is a bit ridiculous.

“We have had so many positive comments from people saying what a fab office it is.”

The new light and airy premises has plenty of space for browsing house hunters, plus lots of chairs and side rooms where customers can enjoy privacy.

Webbers has a good connection with Together Financial Services and there is now a dedicated office to speak to clients.

For the first time there is also a separate area for the rentals department, something the office has not enjoyed before.

Mr Douglas added: “Our rentals manager Marc Martin has been doing a good job building up a good quality business, while sales has grown enormously.”

Since setting up in Bideford in 1966, Webbers has sold more than 8,000 houses.

Mr Douglas said: “We have a huge amount of knowledge, we have qualified chartered surveyors and knowledge to put people on the right path, plus we market lots of land to local and national house builders.”
