A 28-year-old man has been taken into custody after police deployed a stinger to stop his car yesterday (Sunday).
Officers were called at around 5.50pm following reports of a driver under the influence of alcohol on the B3233 near Bickington.
A police spokesperson said: “The white Skoda failed to stop and a stinger was deployed at around 6.15pm.
“This was successful and three of the vehicles tyres were punctured.”
The Skoda was stopped in Bickington opposite the garage. A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop.
The man was later arrested further on suspicion of burglary, driving under the influence of alcohol, failing to drive in accordance with a provisional license.
He was taken to custody where he remains today (Monday).
A search of the vehicle was carried out at the scene and the vehicle was seized by police.
