KEEPING THE GREAT IN GREAT TORRINGTON. Great Torrington Neighbourhood Plan Pre-Submission Consultation. Great Torrington Town Council have prepared a draft Neighbourhood Plan which will lay out the town’s future in terms of landscape protection and enhancement, the design of new housing, parking provision, development of community facilities and employment opportunities. What the Plan includes will inform planning decisions for the next thirteen years so it is a very important document. The Neighbourhood Plan boundary was formally designated by Torridge District Council on 24” November 2014. Since then, extensive consultation with local residents and businesses has been undertaken to develop the key issues and planning policies that form the basis of the Neighbourhood Plan. The draft Neighbourhood Plan was approved by Great Torrington Town Council in March 2018 to proceed to formal ‘pre-submission consultation’. This is a specific stage in the Neighbourhood Plan process as shaped by the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012. The consultation will start on Monday 19” March 2018 and run for 8 weeks, finishing on Monday 14th May 2018. This will provide the opportunity for local people, businesses and organisations to comment on the draft Neighbourhood Plan.
