Carnival revellers beat the rain as a good night is enjoyed by all at South Molton

A colourful and busy carnival was enjoyed in South Molton on Saturday – and just ahead of the weather.

Inventive floats and walkers took to the streets of the town, joining carnival queen Jessica Gouldbourne and well supported along the route.

It is organised by the Rotary Club of South Molton and proceeds from the night will go to Rotary good causes.

Carnival committee chairman Jack Stanley said the rain only closed in for the last 20 minutes and failed to dampen any spirits.

“It was very colourful again this year and we had an awful lot of support from the people of South Molton and the surrounding area,” he said.

“I would like to thank everybody that supported the carnival, from the businesses and organisations to private individuals that helped to make it a success.”

After the parade many stayed on to enjoy the children’s fair and other activities in the Pannier Market.

Proceeds from the event are still being counted.
