Holsworthy's World Champion windsurfer Izzy Hamilton landed RYA Volvo Team GBR's only medal at the 2010 Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championships in Istanbul, Turkey.

She picked up a second consecutive silver at the event in the RS:X girls class on the final day of racing last Friday .

Izzy, 17, was determined to beat her Israeli rival Ofir Halevy after she toppled Hamilton at the RS:X Europeans in Poland and she did. Coming back from fourth place at the end of day three, Izzy upped her game, posting a first on day four to step up into third overall. She followed that with a second in the final day's race to overtake Halvey and securing the silver medal.

In taking a second medal at the event, replicating her silver medal at last year's regatta in Brazil, the Budehaven Community School pupil makes history as the only British girl to have ever picked up two windsurfing medals in the event's 40-year history.
