LINFORD Brock, Ben Vellacott and Laurence May all scored try hat-tricks as Barnstaple demolished Devonport Services 62-0.

The game was the first in phase two of the Devon Merit Table and gave Barum a great start towards winning the county cup.

Ten tries were scored by Barnstaple – the first two by May and the third by Brock on the end of a punchy run under the posts.

Then the forwards and backs combined for the team try of the day. They kept the ball for what seemed like an eternity and finally finished off with a try by centre Scott Warren.

The final try of the half was from Brock, who ran a straight line and burst over to show the senior squad what he is capable of.

Sean East added two conversions for 29-0 at half time.

After a slow start to the second half, Barum got motoring again.

With East pulling the strings at fly-half, Ben Vellacott finished off a great move to score under the posts.

The next try came from some neat hands with Calum Sumners laying the ball off to Vellacott ,who popped it to Brock, who had a clear run in under the posts for his hat trick.

The next two tries came from Vellacott for his hat-trick.

With time running down it was May who ran in to score his hat trick and score the tenth try of the game .

East added four more conversions.
