Good start by Bideford boxer

BIDEFORD ABC boxer Raymond Penfold made a succesful start to his campaign on Saturday, beating a Portsmouth opponent in his own back yard, with a unanimous points verdict.

Penfold started fast and landed some telling blows in the opening round. He stepped the pace up in round two, with his lightning jab snapping his opponent’s head back and in the third his superior fitness and skill was too much for the Portsmouth man, who was forced to hold on.

This week Penfold and clubmate Matt Van Emmenis begin the NACYP national championships
