IT was a stalemate in the U16s section of the S1 Sport North Devon Girls Football League as each team won once in the December fixtures at Sandymere on Saturday.

Barnstaple turned in a superb performance to thump leaders Braunton 4-1, with goals from Harriet Macey (2) and Alice Binns (2). Tash Owen replied for Braunton, who then bounced back with a 5-0 win over Torridgeside & Blues with Luisa Capocci (2), Jess Cox (2) and Owen hitting the net.

Torridgeside & Blues then also staged a turn-around, beating Barnstaple 4-3 in the best game of the day.

Only three of the five U14s teams took part, with Holsworthy marching on in their quest for another league title with two more wins. They overcame a battling Bideford & Torridgeside 3-0 and trounced Braunton 7-0. Bideford and Torridgeside then beat a lacklustre Braunton 4-0.

Sophie Cox was the hat-trick hero for Braunton U12s in a 6-1 victory over Bideford. Beth Emmett (2) and Phoebe Oreshko were the other scorers, with Jo Sanders the player of the match.
