THE male staff of Asda supermarket in Bideford will be hoping they haven't bitten off more than they can chew when they challenge the Bideford Ladies team this Sunday at the town Football Club.

The match kicks off at 4pm and admission is 2 on the gate, with all proceeds going to the Tickled Pink breast cancer charity.

Asda has been a supporter of the ladies team for some time and the store currently sponsors the team kit.

It is the first full match for the Bideford Asda 11 but the team has already issued a general challenge to other local business or community organisations to take them on at either five or 11-a-side.

Plans for an Asda versus Morrison's game are on the cards and Peter Wilcox at the Bideford store already has ambitions of setting up a North Devon supermarket league.

On May 98 the Asda boys will be travelling to Plymouth to compete in the regional heats of an inter-Asda competition.

Show your support for the audacious Asda boys - or cheer on the Bideford Ladies - at the Bideford FC Sports Ground in Kingsley Road this Sunday!
