NORTH Devon girl cricketers kept up their winning streak with the under-13s following the district success of the under-15s with victory against East Devon at Blundells.
Batting first, the North openers went cheaply and there were anxious moments for manager Jan Witheridge before a swift 35 runs from skipper Alli Kelly (NDCC) settled them down. Niamh Rees-Doherty held up her end with a steady 21 before retiring to give other girls a chance to bat. Evie Risebro (22no) and Lauren Bowden (19) maintained the challenge and all the North girls got a chance to bat - the East, giving eight girls a chance to bowl - and set a healthy 177 total.
The East openers suffered at the hands of Filleigh sisters Annabel Squire (2 for 9 off 3) and Millie Squire (1-0-1). Morgan Harrison- Hooton and Lauren Bowden then took three wickets and the East ended on 81 all out.
