Pictures: Frightful fun had by all at Torrington Pannier Market for Halloween

Great Torrington Pannier Market’s Wicked Weekender had plenty of Halloween-themed stalls and activities to enjoy on Saturday

Halloween spirit was out in force on Saturday (October 25) at Great Torrington Pannier Market as visitors enjoyed a day full of spooky fun and family-friendly activities, including pumpkin carving, cake decorating, hair wraps, arts and crafts – even a yucky lucky dip.

The Wicked Weekender was organised by volunteer market co-ordinator, Sam, whose hard work and enthusiasm helped bring the community together to enjoy some frightful fun.

The event had support from local traders and suppliers - John Patts brought the pumpkins, plus the event was sponsored by Great Torrington Rotary Club, with traders Zdenka and Lauren hosting different activities.

Sam said: “I love volunteering for the Pannier Market – it means all the profits can go straight back into making this a great community space for everyone to enjoy.

“The Market Hall is such a great space for all kinds of activities and events, as well as being home to such a charming, friendly market. I couldn’t do it without the incredible support and encouragement from the traders and shopkeepers, and definitely not without the mentorship of Leighroy and Lucy from South West Events Management Solutions.”

To help better connect people with what’s happening at the market, Sam has been working on a new website for the Pannier Market, to showcase traders, shopkeepers and upcoming events.

Don’t miss Torrington Christmas Fayre on Saturday, November 15 when the town is packed with local traders and crafters, plus Santa might be dropping in…

On Saturday, November 29 there is a children’s disco at the Market Hall, with the opportunity to craft a lantern to join the musical procession leading up to the big light switch on. Or simply enjoy the festivities with some freshly made popcorn provided by Torriyouth.
