Pictures: Rock Hard Colour Run for veterans is a messy success

The Veterans Charity event on Armed Forces Weekend brought in hundreds to Barnstaple’s Rock Park

Veterans, families and supporters painted Barnstaple’s Rock Park pink, purple, yellow and blue for the first-ever Rock Hard Colour Run to mark Armed Forces Weekend.

Hosted by The Veterans Charity, the event’s debut saw 176 people of all ages take part, running through the messy colour stations around the two-mile course and completing a fun obstacle course.

The family day out included food vans, a bar, giant inflatables, a DJ and a nerf gun range among other activities.

Danny Greeno, CEO of The Veterans Charity, said: “We are absolutely thrilled with the incredible success of this year’s Rock Hard Colour Run!

“We were very proud to welcome so many members of our local community—of all ages—to take part in the event. Watching everyone laughing, running through the colour stations and tackling the fun obstacles with such enthusiasm was truly heart-warming.

“It was a perfect way to celebrate Armed Forces Weekend and to honour our veterans, while also raising vital support for The Veterans Charity.

“We are especially grateful to our fantastic sponsors, Slee Blackwell Solicitors, for their generous support and for getting stuck in on the day—it wouldn’t have been the same without them!

“The energy and spirit made this event unforgettable and we can’t wait to do it all again next year.”
