Funny bones at the ready for Barnstaple comedy comp

AFTER two high quality laugh-a-minute heats, Wendy May’s North Devon Comedy Club presents the final of the North Devon New Act Competition tomorrow (Thursday) at Boston Tea Party in Barnstaple.

Barnstaple’s Luke Honnaraty, Braunton’s Aaron Twitchen plus Adam Barker from Saltash and Steph Lane from Bristol will be battling it out to be the biggest hit with the audience’s funny bones and walk away with a 100 prize.

Each will perform up to seven minutes of their own original comedy material and the audience will vote for their favourite.

To finish proceedings there will be a set from Nick Page, a professional comedian who has also appeared in three series of BBC’s Escape from the Country and is not only funny, but very knowledgeable!

“The heats were fantastic,” said Wendy, “the quality of all of the acts was so high, the audiences were amazingly supportive and everyone had such a great time.

“All have been performing for less than a year, with Luke winning on his only his fourth ever gig! Boston Tea Party was packed to the rafters for the heat and we hope to get the same atmosphere for the final.”

Tickets are 7 from Boston Tea Party in Tuly Street or J&A Cameras in Gammon Walk, on the door. Doors open at 7.30pm.
