Four finals each for busy pair

KEITH Le Milliere and Michael Sussex each featured in four of the finals at the North Devon Table Tennis League’s finals night competitions, but each had to be satisfied with one winners trophy.

Sussex gained his win in the team handicap singles competition while Le Milliere partnered Peter Kneil to victory in the open doubles event against Sussex and Alan Briggs.

Briggs, who is in his 70th year, sprang one of the surprises of the evening when he beat Le Millier in a five set thriller in the Supervets (O55s) final.

There was also a shock in the Division 2 singles final when Robin Gale, unbeaten all season, saw a 2-1 set advantage disappear as Malcolm Overson came back to win 3-2.

The blue ribbon event of the evening, the open singles, was a cat and mouse affair between Le Milliere and odds-on favourite Kevin Taylor, who also had to come from behind to snatch victory 3-2.
