Fremington cruise past Ashwater to set up North area final against either barnstaple FC or Chulmleigh.
ANDY King scored twice as Fremington made it through to the North Area final of the Devon Intermediate Cup on Saturday.
The North Devon Gazette League side beat Kingsley League opponents Ashwater 5-0 on the road in what manager John Thompson described as his team’s best performance of the season.
Wayne Parkhouse got the visitors off the mark with a header from a corner before King headed a similar effort to make it 2-0 at the break.
King grabbed his second after the restart before substitute Gary Grant – one of a triple change in personnel made by Thompson – volleyed the fourth after a good one-two with Lee Chapple on the flank.
Darren Vaughan added gloss with Fremington’s fifth.
Manager Thompson said: “We played really well, the best we’ve played this season.
“We had to call on Fremington old boy Rob Patterson to go in goal as our regular keeper Jamie Pow was unavailable.
“But they didn’t really cause us any concerns at all and to be honest we could have had a cardboard cut-out in goal.â€
Following Monday’s draw, Fremington will play either Barnstaple FC or Chulmleigh at home on February 18.
In the Firewatch Devon Senior Cup, Wrey Arms will travel to Bow AAC if they can beat Okehampton Argyle Reserves in this Saturday’s rescheduled match.
The winners of this weekend’s rearranged Woolsery versus Bideford Reserves match will play either Bacaro or Lee Moor.
