Five-star Braunton produce a fantastic win in the wind

North Devon Gazette

Braunton produced one of their best performances of the Devon Football League to crush Alphington 5-1 and consolidate third position in the table.Â

Captain Luke Austen got the ball rolling with a close-range finish and the lead was extended by Ryan Mugford, expertly weaving his way through the Alphas before lashing a terrific finish into the corner from just inside the box.Â

Alphington, who are just a place below Braunton in the table, pulled a goal back to make things interesting but a fierce insiwinging corner was palmed out by the visiting custodian, with debutant Callum Davey in the right place to poke home.Â

The win was effectively sealed by Austen, his second of a windy game, launching a cross from the right that deceived the Alphas’ goalkeeper to creep over the line.Â

Tom Marsh completed the scoring for Braunton, who welcome Liverton United to Camp Lobb on Saturday.Â
