Cyclists climb to success

TAW Velo riders Sara Carter, Anna Tucker and Rachel Pryce completed the 74 miles of the tough Cornwall Tor Cycle Sportive event at the weekend within the set time limit.

The event, whioch attracts around 500 riders, is classed as one of the hardest in the UK, with 10,000 feet of climbing up steep ascents and the downhill sections providing only short relief before further climbs, to provide a true test of stamina.

It is not a competitive event, but riders have to finish in a set time to gain their medals.

The Taw Velo trio have now set their sights on riding 100 miles in the Two Moors Sportive in July, setting off from Bideford and riding across Exmoor and Dartmoor.

Taw Velo ladies meet every Sunday morning at 9am at the North Devon Leisure Centre and welcome riders of all abilities.
